Many British travellers love Germany.It is a country boasting a great deal of diversity and so it is easy to see just how it appeals to such a wide ranging audience. There is the beautiful and buzzing capital of Berlin. The famous wine making region of the south. The black forest. The castles along the Rhine. If you''ve already spent a fair amount of time in Berlin and you fancy a change of scenery this year, then Hamburg could be the next logical step. As Germany''s second city, Hamburg provides an array of cultural entertainments set amid stunning examples of Bavarian architecture as well as plenty of shopping and great wining and dining venues.

If you like to enjoy a spot of live music then you are sure to be spoilt for choice in Hamburg. As for Hamburg cuisine, no visit to the city would be complete without sampling Birnen, Bohnon und Speck: pears, green beans and ham. Other specialities include Franzbroten ? a flat croissant with a cinnamon and sugar filling, Pannfisch ? pan fried fish fillets (usually cod) and Bratkartoffeln ? pan fried potato slices, often served with local relish or mayonnaise.
