Many people have fond recollections from our childhood taking part in Candyland. This timeless classic from Hasbro celebrates its 60th anniversary in 2009. The game is still thriving and could be a hot holiday gift once more this year. Young and old alike can fancy the game, with no skill-based advantage going to any specific player.Instead, players take a color-coded card to determine which spot on the board they can move to.Some cards have pictures on them, that means the player must move to the corresponding place on the Candy Land game board. One reason very young youngsters fancy the game is that no reading is required to play.Matching colors and pictures is the sole talent they have to develop.Another issue that makes it fun for kids is that they have just as much chance of winning as everyone else that's playing. No a lot of constant losing to older siblings or mom and dad! While many adults could have grown up with only one version of Candy Land, that is now not the case. In addition to the first game board, alternative editions are now accessible which include: Sweet Celebration, Candy Land Castle, and Fun on the Run (a travel edition.) Winnie the Pooh and Dora the Explorer editions are available for those Nick Jr and Disney fans. While several things have come and gone over the past half century, Candy Land has stood the test of time. The quilt of the box says it is a "sweet little game for sweet little people", that would be extended to include those people who are still young at heart. That is one reason why Candy Land makes such a smile-inducing gift.
