Lanzarote is the largest of the Canary Islands, and also the furthest east. Only 80 miles away from the coast of Africa, Lanzarote benefits from year round warm weather, and plenty of sunshine. The former house of Manrique is now a museum and gallery for his work, and is a fantastic structure in its own right. The house, like something from a James Bond film, has been developed from a volcanic bubble, and is a favourite attraction of many who visit the island. There are well developed tourist resorts across the island. For family holidays Costa Teguise has white sand beaches, and plenty of family bars and restaurants. There is British food available, as well as several Irish bars, and in addition, a couple of established windsurfing schools. Down the coast, the resort of Puerto del Carmen caters for a younger crowd, with a more bustling and lively kind of nightlife.
