The latest smartphone to implement the Android operating system has just been released by the mobile phone giant Sony Ericsson. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 has a slick touch screen design and is jam packed with features and application capabilities too. The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 looks similar to other touch screen handsets like the popular HTC Hero smartphone and the Apple iPhone. Like these models, it features a camera mounted to the back of the handset and has a minimal design. Keeping the look of the smartphone clean and sleek, Sony Ericsson have managed to keep the size and weight of the handset to a minimum by eschewing a full keypad and multiple buttons for a simpler 3 button and touch screen set up. The first thing that strikes you when using the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is its incredible speed. Thanks to its super powerful processor, the 1GHz Snapdragon, the handset makes app and internet access a smooth and superfast experience. Features include HDSPA, Wi-Fi, DLNA, and Bluetooth connectivity, a GPS chip, a 3.5mm headphone out jack, and 8 gigabytes of removable memory in the form of a Micro SD card, which is enough to store thousands of audio tracks and images. While the phone runs on the Android operating system, this is used merely as a starting point for the sophisticated and user friendly Nexus UX user interface, which is a kind of customised version of the standard Android interface. The Xperia X10 features a whopping 8.1 megapixel camera with incredibly useful photographic features such as touch focus, a powerful Xenon flash as well as a smile detection ability. You can capture 30 frames per second with its video recording capabilities too. The X10 is capable of running any Android app, and comes pre loaded with several popular apps such as Google Maps and YouTube. However, it can also run apps specifically written for the UX interface, such as the highly impressive MediaScape media player and the TimeScape social networking app.
