HP ENVY 15

By: Colin symmonds

There are many parts found in the HP Envy 15 as many as you will find in extremely big gaming rig or media center not in an 15.6inch aluminum structure which bears the strong resemblance to a 15inch Apple Macbook Pro. However, this does presents problems: once you pair powerful parts within thin metallic framework, it does create all types of heating issues. Well if one can get through this flaw, the smooth system could take its performances to the level that this MacBook Pro cannot touch.

The system is 15 by 9.75 by 1inch HWD and 5.2 pounds, gets its thinness from purging its optical drive. As far as the software goes, there is pre-boot Linux section, which comes with the Splashtop Web browser, music player, and access to your web cam, Skype, calendar information and chat client. With the gaming-level component, Envy 15 performance was outstanding, annihilating MacBook Pro during numerous speed tests PCMark Vantage, the Envy scored 6,056 almost doubled to that of MacBook Pro. In World in Conflict and Crysis, it racked up outstanding frame rates. However, during tests the system heated to 89-92 degrees Fahrenheit while on its palm rest also high as 110 degrees at the base whilst idling. Moreover, the 6-cell battery that is included is just not enough, allowing a mere 1 hour and 55 minutes of usage. A 9-cell battery is highly recommended. Yet this Envy 15's slim profile with a blazing performance are attractive, its battery life, high price and heat are most definite drawbacks.
