Most times computer desktops come loaded with utility programs which were designed to help to take care of issues and maintain optimum performance. Most of these utilities can be easily accessed by hitting Start and selecting the "Accessories" selection and then System Tools. After accessing a computer overtime, it can gradually become annoyingly slow and inefficient so the system utilities help to get the computer functioning back like ordinarily. There are around five central system utility tools, system restore, disk cleanup, backup, scheduled task, disk defragmenter. The system restore is responsible for restarting the pc to an earlier setup so if you install a new software on the computer which causes it to malfunction you can simply reprogram it to set the machine to an earlier date prior when the problem did not occur to solve the problem. Disk cleanup deals with the excess clutter on a hard drive which decreases the overall speed of the computer by eliminating unwanted files to create more space. The backup utility is used to maintain a record of a previous state on the computer so that if the user needs to restore particular computer files and settings, they can be restore to that particular time. Scheduled Tasks accesses a wizard so the user can set selected programs to run routinely at a specific time and frequency. So you can schedule a software program to backs up files daily at a time a time you select. Disk Defragmenter also referred to as defrag, merges all the file segments in order to enhance computer productivity. Defragging your system makes the computer faster by setting up each file so it can be easily located after being requested by consolidating incomplete files. A file archive is the expression used for a computer program that merges a number of files together into one archive folder, the contents themselves or a selection of archive folders, for easier storage, accessibility and transferring. Many file archivers employ archive platforms that provide lossless file compression to minimize the volume of the archive. Normally when persons are transmitting a large collection of individual files over a network that sometimes experience high latency such as the web. The most simple archivers just organize a listing of files and link their information consecutively into an archive. Information on the references and size of the original copies, must be maintained so that the information can be appropriately reconstructed. Most archives keep other information on a file that the operating system provides, such as timestamps, ownership and access control. The procedure for creating an archive folder is referred to as archiving. Extracting is the definition used for the rearrangement of the original files from the archive. The archives are positioned where records of all kinds and formats are kept so it can be obtained for study and other reasons. It is ideal for maintaining private and institutional records of all kinds and also mass media, ephemera, oral histories, and even artifacts. Archives are good for storing primary source, whether unpublished and published contents. Archives are at times linked with particular institutions to store records and publications of that establishment that are unnecessary on a day-to-day basis.
