Registering your mobile phone with the National Mobile Property Register and your mobile service provider will make it easier for the police to trace you should your phone be recovered, so you should give them a call and let them know your details. As soon as you realise that your phone is lost or has been stolen, you should notify both the police and your network provider. Your network provider will then be able to block the handset and SIM card so that they cannot be used by anyone else. When you park your car and leave it unattended, take your phone with you. If you have to leave your phone in the car, get into the habit of turning it off and then securing it away in a locked glove compartment or car boot.
