Malaga - The Quintessential Mediterranean Resort

By: Cristopher Mentkowski

The birthplace of Pablo Picasso, Malaga is rich in its cultural heritage. There are several galleries which display some of his work, including the 16th century Museum of Fine Arts. His birthplace in Plaza Merced has an archive of his entire life and works open to the public for free.

The Museo Picasso Malaga is only a recent addition to the artistic scene but has already become one of the city's key attractions, and provides a moving account of his life and works. Of course, Malaga not only celebrates Picasso as one of its famous sons: Antonia Banderas used to play at the Teatro Cervantes and still visits on occasion today.

Malaga is not only a thriving cultural hotspot; it is also a great place to dine out. The people of Malaga enjoy their food, and it is in the bars and restaurants there where they all get together over a good meal and spend time with friends. There is always good choice available; some bars offer a menu of the day with bread and wine for as little as six euros. You have to try some tapas, an Andalusian tradition combining small portions of many different dishes; it is a great way to try all the local food on offer. Malaga is particularly famous for its 'pescaito frito', a selection of fried fish, washed with some cold fino from one of the town's many old-fashioned bodegas.

Start planning your holiday now by looking for MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Before you go, however, make sure you're well-prepared for anything that might happen by getting yourself travel insurance cover. That way, you can enjoy yourself and have peace of mind.
