Word's document formats are denoted either by a. doc or. docx file extension. The newer ".docx" extension denotes the Office Open XML international standard for Office documents and is deployed by Word 2007 for Windows, Word 2008 for the Macintosh. Word allows to type, format and modify text to create documents that can be printed out or viewed electronically. Microsoft Word is a low-priced word processing application. The word processing application offers boundless features and tools, and many users are familiar and comfortable with its Microsoft toolbars. The application offers options to format fonts, add page numbers and clipart, and create headers and tables.
