Kits Beach. This beautiful beach in the Kitsilano neighbourhood offers a combination of fresh ocean air, mountain views, and a laid back West Coast atmosphere. An oasis of calm in the heart of Vancouvers bustling China Town district, these are the biggest replica Chinese gardens outside of China. Here you can see some stunning flower displays, turtles floating in the ponds, and much more besides. Main Street. Between 49th avenue and 55th, Main Street is crammed with shops selling beautiful Indian foods, fabrics, and jewellery. Farther up the street you can find lots of second hand stores, antiques shops, second hand bookstores, cafes, a pool hall, and several art galleries and restaurants. Vancouver is home to the second largest Chinatown in the world, outside of China itself that is. As well as the Sun Yat Sen garden, there are endless fine Chinese dining establishments and food stalls, the fascinating Chinese Cultural Centre, street markets, sweet shops and more. The designer of Habitat in Montreal, Moshe Safdi, also designed the Vancouver Central Library. The outdoor courtyard to the front is a popular spot with picnickers, the building is magnificent and the Library often hosts fascinating talks, discussions and performances for free. A particular favourite with children is the Vancouver Aquarium. As well as the 70,000 marine animals here, including dolphins, squid, octopus and rare fish species, there are plenty of land-living animals too, from beautiful rare butterflies, tropical birds and more. Kids will love the Macmillan Space Centre, where there are exhibits galore to help you understand the cosmos. As well as a brilliant permanent collection, there are regular visiting exhibits, fascinating presentations from guest speakers and regular film screenings of movies and documentaries with a cosmic theme.
