Tell me about Yeast Infection

By: James Fisher

Also known as Candida infection, Monilia or thrush. It is caused by microscopic bacteria (or yeast). Most people misguidedly believe that this condition takes place on the outside of the skin and can be treated without problems with creams and over-the-counter prescriptions.

Regrettably it is frequently not that straight forward. Wherever the infections are persistent and persist in coming back this can be the signal of a more serious internal problem.

In order to appreciate how to cure it permanently we need to recognize what brought on the Candida infection in the first instance. We need to be able to deal with the root causes instead of just treating the external symptoms.

There are in excess of twenty distinctive species of Candida. They live in our digestive system and all over the surface of our bodies, but principally in the intestines, mouth and throat.

In a normal healthy person there can be millions of Candida bacteria. Our bodies require the Candida bacteria to kill hurtful bacteria and keep them under control.

In a regular healthy person Candida is kept under control by friendly bacteria, known as pro-biotic bacteria. Unhappily antibiotics can kill friendly bacteria and lower the amount in our intestines. This can mean that there is not a sufficient amount to keep the Candida bacteria under control.

If there are difficulties with our immune system, pH balance or if there are not adequate friendly bacteria Candida can increase out of control and initiate infections.

As soon as the balance is lost and the Candida albicans increase out of control they alter from a yeast variety to a fungal type that can invade the complete body.

When this takes place the fungal variety of Candida produces roots that can pierce the walls of the intestines. The yeast, bacteria and partly digested food can then get into the bloodstream causing itching, rashes, irritations and other symptoms.

Candida yeast like to reproduce externally in warm moist areas of the body. The most commonly recognized are vaginal infections, nail-bed infections, skin rash and thrush.

Infections in the mouth can turn out to be more regular as we get older as well as infections below skin folds, under the breasts and around dentures.

We need to understand, though, that by the time these external conditions can be seen the Candida is already out of control internally.

The condition can be caused by a amalgamation of several factors. Doctors can, therefore, find it very problematical to control using drugs and over the counter prescriptions.

Unfortunately the majority of sufferers still leave treatment in the hands of Doctors and the over the counter industry. Only a few persons take responsibility for their personal health and well-being and looking for a permanent treatment for their condition.
