The Simpsons are Stale

By: trisha articlulis

I remember the old days when the Simpsons was the King of TV. Back when it first came out, the Simpsons was one in all the foremost ground breaking shows on TV. Now it has become corny and cheesy. I bear in mind when I emulated Bart Simpson as a free spirit but now he has become a spoiled brat with not abundant intelligence. The line between the personalities has solidified. Lisa is the smart one, Marge the dependable one, Homer the buffoon and Bart the troublemaker.

In the old days, the Simpsons was a true show. It was innovative and contemporary and it had been mainly about young Bart Simpsons. Because the audience of the show grew and got married, the show started becoming concerning Homer. As a result of the characters in the show never aged, the fans of the show did and thus changed tastes.

I enjoyed Homer's goofball angle but the show lost me when they started focusing on Homer and Marge's marital problems. Now I perceive where the show is coming back from. They have to charm to their aging audience with feminine viewers. However the corniness of the entire issue is inescapable. Each different show currently options Homer messing up as a Husband and Marge patiently putting up together with his shenanigans. We have a tendency to are made to sympathize with her until eventually Homer comes back to his senses and makes a sad emotional speech at the end of the show.

But if you study another shows that are brought to you by the creators of the Simpsons like Futurama, you'll notice an identical theme. Bender the Robot plays the crass comic character in Futurama whereas Fry and Leela have their silly romance.

That show is also about getting a nice combine of comedy and romance but it misses the point. If people wished to watch romance and corn in their programming they would flip to alternative teen drama shows that are a dime a dozen on TV. What folks want from their animated comedies is merely fresh writing, humor and social commentary. What they do not need is Drama and that's what the Simpsons wants to stay jamming down our throats.

Keep this up and therefore the Simpsons will be competing directly with the mushy sweet garbage that is often seen on channels like the WB. And if the Simpsons does not modification then it will not be long before it loses its prime time TV spot.

TV is all about fresh and new content and the Simpsons needs to evolve if it desires to remain within the prime time slot. It wants to adapt to the changing environment and listen to user reviews online. If a show like South Park can amendment from changing into thirty minutes of bathroom humor to a show featuring scathing social and political commentary and satire then therefore will the Simpsons. Otherwise, it can have to travel and an entire generation of folks will expertise withdrawal symptoms that are closely related to the death of a close loved one or friend. Its all about amendment! Its time the writers of the Simpsons understood that.
