Sometimes combining the best of two worlds is the only way to go: milk and cookies, Jack and coke, women and shoes. One of the most fruitful partnerships has to be Japanese consumer Electronics Company, Sony, and Swedish mobile phone producer Ericsson. They first jumped into bed together in 2001 and haven't looked back since. Ericsson took the role of the outdated, rather unattractive older male, while Sony was the hot, young and progressive female. They overcame initial problems quickly and the relationship grew from strength to strength. It wasn't until 2005 that Sony Ericsson really beat off the competition. It did so in style with its range of Walkman phones, which turned Sony Ericsson into one of the major players of the global handset market. It was a door-opener into another perfect partnership of music and mobile phones which prompted a whole new market for portable music, and it was rumoured to be a case study for Apple's iPhone. Success continued the next year with the launch of the Cyber-shot branded line of phones. These technology-ridden beauties included high-quality cameras with flashes and auto-focus, once again raising the bar in mobile technology. Now you could call, text, take pictures and listen to music all on one palm-sized gadget and it looked a lot better than its competitors too. It won over the youth market with ease. However, the growth of the iPhone has meant that all competitors, including Sony Ericsson, have to work harder than ever to grab some market share once again. The latest Sony Ericsson handset, the Satio, is backed by a multi-million pound advertising campaign in an effort to win consumers back from Apple and Samsung, and it boasts some great features. However, in the lead up to Christmas, some favourable reviews and fresh marketing means that this handset is now becoming one of this Christmas' hottest handsets. In a word, this phone is awesome. It definitely lives up to its 'unlimited entertainment' hype. It seamlessly combines its Walkman and Cyber-shot technology in a sexy touch-sensitive device. It has a 3.5 inch touch screen, 12.1 megapixel camera, great sound from the mp3 player, GPRS, 3G as well as all the usual functions such as Bluetooth, quadband and video calling. If you're looking for Christmas present ideas, then look no further than the Sony Ericsson Satio.
