Tips to optimize Website Speed, reduce PageTraffic complaints

With such a huge growth of internet users in the past decade, websites owners are always striving to gain popularity and hence extensive features such as rich graphics, dynamic content, scripts, video's are being deployed on the websites to attract users and get high rankings in this massive race. It all seems perfect until the performance of the website is intact, but with so many users using the internet at the same time and accessing the same website and it's pages at the same time, the performance of the website drops considerably.

This lack of performance or speed proves to be fatal and due to other options being available and the lack of patience in people users simply switch to other sites. As a constantly emerging business, website owners should pay heed at the pagetraffic speed of their websites to increase their website traffic and rankings.

A website pagetraffic users can complaint of slow speed due to many reasons, but by following a few simple yet important steps a website's performance and traffic can be optimized. These are :

1. Compress .jpg and .gif images: Image compressions saves valuable space.

2. Don't Use Https://: Connecting through https is almost 3 times slower.

3. Upgrade web server : Be consistent and upgrade resources as per need.

4. Minimize usage of video's : Video's consume a lot of bandwidth, this may lead to server crash and restart.

5. Javascript and Navigation Menu: Javascript must be placed in an external file and the menu must use CSS instead of scripts or flash.

6. Stylesheets : Instead of using CSS codes in HTML code, CSS should be placed in an external file.

7. Minimize usage of Flash - Flash applications take time to load and are not indexed by search engines easily.

8. Separate Content and Database Servers : Keeping content and database seperate speeds up the site and also makes it more secure.

9. Use AJAX : Ajax saves page refreshes and hence the reloading of the same page if eliminated.

10. Specify Image Dimensions: Leaving the width or height attributes blank confuse the browser making rendering of the page slower.

11. Reduce Cookies : We can speed up the page load by avoiding transmission of unnecessary cookies.

The above points must might not be necessary but if given a thought they would surely make a difference towards enhancing your websites performance and reducing page traffic complaints.
