Visit Munich in Germany

For whatever reason, Germany seems to be last on the list when it comes to picking holiday destinations doesn''t it? I mean, where would you automatically assume most tourists went on holiday, Spain or Germany? Exactly

Maybe it because we are too similar to each other that we consider each other places to avoid? I mean, our languages share the same roots, our histories closely follow each others, we think the weather has to be fairly similar; so maybe it is because there are too many things in common and we don''t want to be reminded of home?

Speaking personally, this is absurd. I love Germany. If we expect people to come and visit the UK then we have to admit that Germany may not be such a dreary place after all

I certainly will. I had one of the best holidays of my entire life in the city of Munich, an absolute haven for tourists wanting a bit of everything. Culture, history, nightlife, relaxation; this city has each in abundance and stands up to any other European city in charm and experience.

Tourists flock to the city for the world famous Oktoberfest, to indulge in a smorgasbord of drink with Lederhosen-clad Bavarians, all quaffing vast quantities of beer and sausage. However, there''s more to Munich than this stereotypical image, thanks to its strong cultural scene, richly endowed art collections, romantic palaces and excellent shopping.

In terms of history the place is brilliant. Founded in 1158 it quickly became a cultural centre. The legacy of art museums, theatres and galleries that throng the cities street are all due to this era in Munich''s history.

Munich nightlife is very famous within Germany, and it is often regarded as the coolest city in which to ?be seen.? The best bits include the Hofbr?uhaus brewery, the converted Kultfabrik and Optimolwerke areas, and the vibrant gay quarter located in the borough Isarvorstadt.

All that considered, the best reason to visit Munich is the price. Octopus Travel have fantastic munich hotels available for stupidly cheap prices on their website and there are plenty of budget carriers who fly to Germany. So, buck the trend. Go Deutsche.
