It can be hard to discern between the growing number of smartphones now on the market, but Google and HTC have added some truly exclusive features to their latest handset to ensure that the Nexus One stands out from the crowd. Not least its overhaul of the Android operating system, which now has a new home screen and gallery and is much more aesthetically appealing. The only way to compete in the smartphone market is to bring new technologies that are not available on any other handset. With the Nexus One, the exclusivity lies partly with its unique new voice recognition software. The Nexus One allows users to text, email, tweet, web search and more via dictation. A major part of the Nexus One appeal is its sleek design. It is one of the slimmest smartphones on the market, but that does not make it a lightweight. It is a serious looking piece of phone design that has a tough, edgy and robust feel. With its large touch screen, rounded curved corners and edges some will say that the Nexus One is more than a little iPhone-inspired, but HTC have managed to slim the casing down to a thickness of 11.5mm, making this a far more svelte handset than the Droid, Hero or iPhone. A real plus point for the Nexus One design is its built in camera. The camera app has been improved, especially in the speed department, and it comes with a 5 megapixel lens. Further improvements have been made to the gallery application which is aesthetically better and far more user friendly. When it comes to display, the Nexus One comes with a 3.7 inch touch screen. We found the touch sensitivity was excellent, and its 480 x 800 pixel resolution is high, but not as high as it could have been. Our only disappointment comes with the screens visibility in bright sunlight, and unfortunately this problem comes with al handsets with this screen type. One of the major advantages of the Nexus One is its processor. Created by Qualcomm the much-hyped Snapdragon processor is not to be sniffed at. Superfast browsing and app use is key for smartphone users and the Snapdragon ensures that the Nexus One delivers. As for memory, the Nexus One comes with 512MB RAM and ROM with a microSD slot fully loaded with a 4GB card that is expandable to a whopping 32GB. The phone is WiFi compatible, comes with the must-have AGPS chip and HSPA capable GSM radio.
