Which BlackBerry is best?

By: Porter Ivrin

The popularity of the BlackBerry handset has spread rapidly across the world. Thanks to its ease of use, feature-packed design and its ability to help users work more efficiently and more productively, they have now become a firm favourite among smartphone users. BlackBerry now have a range of eight handset types to choose from, and this guide is designed to help you decide which is the best for you.

If you are going to be using your handset mainly for internet use then the BlackBerry Curve should meet all of your needs. The Curve models come with QWERTY keypads for maximum ease of use when typing up emails, and its large screen makes it easy to read through your email account and to browse online.

If you need a smartphone for business use, the BlackBerry 8800 is ideal. This model comes with a longer battery life than most, 22 days on standby, meaning you will never miss any important calls. The 8800 can also be used as a SatNav in your car or in your pocket as it also comes equipped with GPS.

If you are a business user with Wi-Fi needs then you could opt for the new and improved BlackBerry 8820. This is an updated version of the 8800, featuring Wi-Fi for faster internet access anywhere, and stereo Bluetooth too.

The BlackBerry Pearl makes an ideal model for first time BlackBerry users. Out of the range of eight BlackBerry handset ranges available, the Pearl is the model that most closely resembles a normal handset. But it is still very much a BlackBerry, and you can expect all of the standard email capabilities, expandable memory and internet access associated with the brand, only in a style that is more familiar to standard handset users.

For those who like their phones to be compact, there is the BlackBerry Pearl Flip handset. The phone features are almost identical to the BlackBerry Pearl 8210, only this time it comes in a fold-up clam shell design. The Pearl Flip comes with a 2MP camera, expandable memory and Wi-Fi too, everything you need from a smartphone handset.

For those of you who need a phone for multimedia purposes the large high resolution screen found on the BlackBerry Bold makes it ideal for viewing images and videos. It is also fully 3G compatible giving 3.6Mbps download speeds. It also comes with WordToGo allowing you to edit your work at the touch of a button, and is fully compatible with iTunes.

Touch screen handsets are all the rage at the moment, and so BlackBerry have launched the BlackBerry Storm. Its high resolution touchscreen, 3G support, 3MP camera and GPS means that it has everything the user wants from a modern smartphone, but sadly, no Wi-Fi capabilities as yet.
