Most of the time we try our hardest to cover up our bodies to make us look as slim as possible. But come summer, we strip down to what are effectively waterproof undies and bear all for a beach full of people to see. Unless you have a body like Gisele Bundchen or Halle Berry, this is pretty daunting. Due to the nature of bikinis there is very little material to hide under. We have to make the most of the bits we do like, and reshape the bits that are just okay with less than a metre of fabric. If you have the time and devotion of course you will follow a get-fit-for-summer plan, but most people don''t have the inclination or will power to plan for the beach that far ahead. But don''t resort to sarongs and shorts just yet. Just like with dresses and jeans, there is swimwear to suit every style, shape and size. If you aren''t sure what will work best for you and need some help making the right decision, read on. Most women in the UK are pear shaped, i.e. they have a bigger bottom half than the top half. The best way to deal with this issue is by wearing a mis-matched bikini. Dark bottoms with tie straps will slim down larger hips and thighs. The ties on the side will prevent too much love spilling out of your love handles too and when paired with a brightly coloured top, people''s attention will be drawn away from your bum and onto your upper half. If you have a small bust, triangle shaped, moulded and padded bikinis will provide some added benefit. Horizontal stripes also create size and shape and the triangle shape will add some contours and definition. Pattern will also work wonders too. If you are craving an hour-glass shape but your hips are thin and you don''t have much of a waste or boobs to speak of then this year''s take on the one piece is ideal. Use Cheryl Cole as an example. Her petite frame was given some hourglass treatment when she donned the monokini. This is basically a two-piece joined up in the middle over the stomach, but it creates the illusion of a streamlined shape with curves in the right places. This shape also works well for larger women too. You don''t have to reveal your stomach and if you choose a style with more of a one piece feel you will get better support and your tum will be slimmed down, making your look more toned without doing a single sit-up.
